Our Curriculum

At Wellbrook School our approach to education integrates core academic subjects, social and life skill, placing the pupil at the centre. We deliver a personalised education through innovative teaching methods and dedicated support, fostering academic growth, social development, and emotional and physical wellbeing.

By focusing on individual strengths, we empower pupils to achieve their full potential, promoting independence and self-confidence. Our commitment to inclusivity ensures that all pupils, regardless of their diverse learning needs, receive the guidance and resources necessary to thrive.

Through a combination of tailored educational plans, collaborative learning environments, and the integration of technology, we create an engaging and supportive atmosphere that encourages lifelong learning and personal growth.

Core Curriculum

Our curriculum is as close to the National Curriculum as possible. Where pupils’ needs, prior attainment or SEND profile mean that full access to the National Curriculum is not appropriate, bespoke and equally ambitious pathways are implemented to support progress, wellbeing and preparation for adulthood. Our core curriculum offers two pathways:

Pathway 1 - Pupils at or Above Age-Related Expectations:

Pupils are offered provisions leading to Key Stage 2 SATs and GCSEs at Key Stage 4.

PATHWAY 2 - PUPILS BELOW AGE-RELATED EXPECTATIONS:

Pupils are offered provisions leading to alternative qualifications like Functional Skills and Entry Level Certificates.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT:

Personal development is a key feature of our curriculum and includes PSHE, citizenship education, creative and aesthetic learning, enrichment activities and therapeutic approaches to support pupils’ social, emotional and mental health. Personal development will be used to complement the core academic curriculum and:

Support Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development

Promote British values

Provide Character Education

Develop Pupil's Cultural Capital

Develop pupil's Independence

Personal development activities will be delivered in a variety of ways including:
